It has been 30 years since the first Toy Story film was released, launching the animation giant as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a fair and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?

Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her shirt.

It is hoped she is still the key figure among the toys.
